QR Codes: Are We Getting it Right?

In recent years, QR codes have made a major comeback, particularly in Digital Advertising on platforms like Connected TV (CTV), Digital Out of Home (DOOH) screens, and even in video ads on our PCs. They’re a game-changer, offering an easy and efficient way for users to engage with ads by simply scanning a code with their mobile device while they’re already paying attention to the screen.


We’re all for making it as easy as possible for users to respond to great ads, and QR codes seem like the perfect solution for that. But here’s the catch—most people don’t realize that scanning a QR code often triggers a series of background actions before they reach the final destination. And that’s where things start to get murky.
